Not as popular as other forms of venting, a power vented fireplace can help remove byproducts to the outside and improve the efficiency of your fireplace. The power vented fireplace uses an electric fan to force these byproducts through a vent to the outside.

In areas where a conventional flue cannot be used on your fireplace, power venting will assist in installing the fireplace in your desired location while providing safe and efficient venting. The power vent will work on both vertical and horizontal flues, when used on a horizontal flue you can nearly double the distance of the run of that offered by a direct vent alone.

 
Because of the additional materials and work involved during installation the cost of adding a power vent to your fireplace will be greater. I would recommend obtaining at least three quotes for the job, above all make sure the work will be perforomed by a qualified professional.
